One of those great reads where you get lost in the characters and storyline and completely forget you are reading (which means great writing)! Lovable characters in a great paced mystery with magic and murder? Yes please! It was difficult to put down while I tried to figure it all out with Kable. Looking forward to more.

"I liked the suspense elements of this, but it seemed like the multiple subplots were competing against each other and didn't tie up as nicely in the end. The writing was rich and descriptive. I wish it would have been written from one point of view, as the head hopping was very hard to follow. Overall a good read as I like small town mystery."

"There were some great intimate scenes but it seemed like they happened inorganically, and the scene where they were caught and then on the run from the Deliverance style family was a little stilted and did not capture what I would have thought would be the fear in that moment. The transitions between very macabre scenes and "normal" scenes seemed abrupt, would have enjoyed more character development and reaction/reflection on the situations especially since this author has a vivid writing style."
